Before you start your healing journey…ask yourself this ONE question.

This isn't solely about physical illness; it encompasses emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being. It demands honest self-examination to pinpoint the habits, relationships, thought patterns, or environments that contribute to your suffering. The healing process often requires letting go of familiar comforts, even when those comforts are ultimately harmful to your health.

Are you willing to give up the things that made you sick in the first place?

For my Ayurveda Wellness Coaching, I offer a free 15-minute discovery call. During these calls, we discuss your current state (Where am I at? & What do I need?).  This helps both of us to ensure that I am the right fit for you on your journey and confirms that you are willing to do the work necessary to achieve the results you seek – mentally, emotionally, and physically.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve told two women “I don’t think you're ready to feel better” and “I don’t think we are a good fit”.

Why? Because both women wanted something quick and easy. Ayurveda focuses on addressing the underlying cause of imbalance, rather than simply masking symptoms with temporary solutions. We prioritize long-term healing over quick fixes.

The two women reported feeling consistently tired, struggling with persistent weight gain despite their efforts, and having a general sense of being run-down even though they were "doing everything right." When I suggested that their current workout routines might be disrupting their hormonal balance and hindering their progress, rather than supporting it, they were hesitant to alter their exercise habits.  One woman expressed a clear disinterest in modifying their current workout routine, which is perfectly acceptable. Ayurveda represents a lifestyle, not a fleeting trend or fad, and is intended to foster sustainable, long-term well-being.

We discussed many other things on our call, but this one thing stood out to me because I was this woman – about 10 years ago. I believed that intensifying my workouts- lifting heavier weights, doing HIIT training, running, and practicing power yoga - was the guaranteed way to lose weight, build muscle, and maintain my body. However, all this was just disrupting my hormones until my body could no longer cope and eventually sent out an SOS – We need help!

My hormones became so out of balance that I no longer had a monthly cycle, but I bled every day.  I was putting on unexplained weight, I was so tired and despite sleeping 10 hours a night, I was living off caffeine.  My symptoms were expressed through my skin, as acne and dermatitis appeared. Bloating, anger and indigestion were also side effects.

Healing goes beyond just symptoms and superficial fixes. Are you prepared to examine and release the habits, patterns, beliefs, relationships, and lifestyle choices that have contributed to your current state of dis-ease?

I only accept women into my coaching program who demonstrate they are ready to fully commit to the process. While I provide the tools and guidance, the healing journey is ultimately theirs, requiring consistent self-commitment and effort. Enrolling someone before they are prepared is ultimately counterproductive for both of us.

Unlike strict diet plans that often focus solely on calorie counting and removing “bad” things, Ayurveda offers a more holistic and personalized approach to eating. It emphasizes understanding your unique constitution (Prakriti) and any imbalances (Vikriti) to determine the most beneficial foods and eating habits for your individual needs. Instead of a rigid set of rules, Ayurveda encourages mindful eating, seasonal adjustments, and incorporating herbs and spices to support digestion and overall well-being. This personalized and adaptable philosophy aims to foster a sustainable and enjoyable relationship with food and movement, rather than a restrictive or temporary solution.

To truly see improvements and understand the impact on your healing journey, you'll need to sacrifice things, both in the short-term and long-term.

I gave up:

  • Caffeine. (short term)

  • Sugar. (short term)

  • Gluten. (Long Term - Gut test proved I can’t handle it – I was getting headaches and bloat badly)

  • Dairy (Long Term - Found out I’m lactose intolerant!)

  • I started prioritizing my nighttime routine, going to bed early and not staying up late.

  • I stopped doing HIIT workouts every day and now choose different exercises based on where I am in my menstrual cycle.

Healing is a process, not an event. While some of my clients have experienced initial shifts relatively quickly, true transformation unfolds gradually and continuously.

Since making changes in my life that I continue to refine, my periods have normalized. The debilitating headaches are gone, as is the bloating after meals. My skin is clear, except for the few that pop up every so often on my cycle! While life gets crazy and I could go for a nap while I’m writing this, my fatigue is no longer chronic or a health issue.

Real healing requires profound change, and the courage to let go of what no longer serves you, even if it's comfortable or familiar. Be honest with yourself - Are you willing to give up the things that made you sick in the first place?
